Former APSU Baseball Governor Jack Snodgrass chosen to play in Eastern League All-Star game

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSURichmond, VA – For a second straight season, former Austin Peay State University pitcher Jack Snodgrass has been selected to a mid-season All-Star game.

After being selected for the High Class A California League All-Star game a year ago, Snodgrass now has been chosen for the Class AA Eastern League All-Star game to be played July 10th at New Britain (Conn.) Stadium.

A member of the San Francisco Giants organization, Snodgrass is one of six Richmond players who will play for the Western Division team against the Eastern Division.

The 6-5 lefthander, who helped the Govs to the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference championship, has enjoyed a superb first season at Class AA. He owns an impressive 7-3 win-loss record in 15 starts with a 2.92 earned-run average—that ERA ranks fifth best in the Eastern League.

More impressively, the Bowling Green, KY, native has permitted just 66 hits in 86.1 innings pitched this season. In fact, his 1.02 WHIP (walks and hits per inning) is the second best in the league.

The 25-year old was a California League All-Star member last season, representing the San Jose Giants.

Snodgrass was the starter and winning pitcher when the Govs stunned Georgia Tech, 2-1, in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Regional game in Atlanta. A few days later, he was selected by the Giants in the 27th round of the 2011 draft.
