The Lady Govs will be veteran-laden in 2013, with 13 letter winners and eight starters returning from last season’s OVC runner-up team. Among those returners are 2012 OVC Offensive Player of the Year Tatiana Ariza and all-conference honorees Haylee Shoaff and Natalia Ariza.

After a day of meetings and getting moved in, the Lady Govs will participate in fitness testing tomorrow morning before holding the fall’s first team practice, Wednesday afternoon.

“We’re looking forward to tomorrow,” said head coach Kelley Guth. “I think we’ve got a great group this year. The girls are full of energy and ready to get after it.”

Several Lady Govs have been around campus for a few days now, with some heading out into the community last weekend to distribute schedule posters for the upcoming season.

Austin Peay kicks off its preseason schedule quickly, beginning this weekend with a 6:00pm Friday intrasquad scrimmage and continuing with a 6:00pm Sunday match against Alabama at the Jack Allen Sports Complex in Decatur, AL. The first of two home Lady Govs exhibition matches is scheduled for 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 14th against Evansville.
