Clarksville’s Graham Sleigh tied for 13th at 98th Tennessee State Amateur


Tennessee Golf AssociationChattanooga, TN – Clarksville’s Graham Sleigh sits at one-over par, good for a tie for 13th place, after three rounds of the 98th Tennessee State Amateur being played at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.

Austin Peay State University golfers Trey Tarpley (73-71-68=212/tie 19th) and Austin Kramer (75-71-72=218/tie 46th) also made it past the top 65 cut line.

APSU Governors Football add Two Central Michigan transfers among six late additions


Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head coach Kirby Cannon has gone north to add a couple of familiar faces to the Governors’ 2013 roster.

Running back Tim Phillips, who enjoyed an incredible prep career in Louisville before spending the last four seasons at Central Michigan, and safety Leron Eaddy (pronounced ee-dee), who played for Cannon the past three seasons in the Chippewas secondary, will play their final respective college seasons as Governors.

Alzheimer’s Association “Brain Health A to Z” Health Expo to be held at First Baptist Church August 17th, 2013


Brain Health A-Z present by the Alzheimer's AssociationClarksville, TN – “Brain Health A to Z” health expo will be held Saturday, August 17th at First Baptist Church. This health expo is presented by the Mid South Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The expo will be open from 9:00am until 1:00pm.

“Brain Health A to Z” is for the community to learn more about brain health and Alzheimer’s disease/dementia. Some may have a loved one with Alzheimer’s, a family history of Alzheimer’s or may just be interested in brain health. Attendees may come and go as they wish.

Paris Landing Tourism League hosting innaugural Bike Event this Weekend


Paris Landing Tourism LeagueParis Landing, TN“Come Play With Us” is the motto of the Paris Landing Tourism League, and Sara Jo Sutherland, president, has planned a big event to encourage a whole new group of folks to discover all the recreational opportunities of our community.

The Tour de Paris Landing, a bicycle road race planned for August 10th and 11th, will feature a 45 mile competition on Saturday, an 85 mile trek on Sunday and will cover Henry and Stewart Counties.

CDE reports Power Outage in the Memorial Drive area


Clarksville Department of Electricity - CDEClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Department of Electricity reports a power outage affecting approximately 625 customers.

The areas affected include: Georgetown Road, Peartree Drive, Memorial Drive from Georgetown to Maxwell Drive, Kimbrough Road, Landon Road, Alfred Drive, Kingswood Drive, Post Road, Maxwell Drive, North Meadow Drive, Madison Street, from Vannoak to Memorial, and the surrounding streets. (Indian Hills, Madison Summit, Peartree, Vannoak subdivisions.)

CDE has crews en route to locate the problem.
