Red-and-White intrasquad scrimmage at Morgan Brothers Field Friday at 6:00pm
Clarksville, TN – After a strong first week back on campus, Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team will get on the field twice this weekend to test their skills in live action.
Sunday, Austin Peay hits the road for the first of three preseason matches, where they will take on Alabama at the Jack Allen Sports Complex in Decatur, AL. The match is scheduled for a 6:00pm start time.
“We know we won’t have everything covered, going into this so early into preseason,” said head coach Kelley Guth. “But we do have certain things we want to focus on and have the team do well in these games.
“With 11 new players, it’s important to get them on the field as much as possible. We want to develop a winning mentality, and that comes with experience. With such a great group of upperclassmen, a great way to learn is by watching how they play in a game situation.”
Austin Peay returns home for a pair of exhibition matches next week, against Evansville (August 14th, 6:00pm) and Freed-Hardeman (August 16th, 6:00pm) at Morgan Bros. Field. Austin Peay’s regular season gets under way with a 6:00pm, Friday, August 23rd match at Chattanooga.
