Northwest Big League State Champion run ends at Regional by eventual World Series winner

Northwest Little LeagueFt. Lauderdale, FL – The Northwest Little League Big League Division, (ages 15-18) baseball team, won the Tennessee State Big League Championship and advanced to the Southeast Regionals.

Northwest played in Pool B at the regional and advanced to the semi-finals after losing its pool play opening game to the Regional Host team — Florida District 21 — by a 3-2 margin and then rebounding to defeating Bristol, VA, 5–2.

The season came to an end for Northwest after losing to the eventual Big League World Champions Greenville, SC, 15-1.

The South Carolina team had seven NCAA Division I signees on their roster, including players going to the College of Charleston, The Citadel, the University of South Carolina and Clemson University.

Despite the loss, the Northwest squad finished as one of the final 20 teams playing in the United States at any age level in Little League Baseball.

The team consisted of Alberto Lozada, Zack Schilling, Mike Wulf, Harlow Dixon, Aaron Rhodes, Ethan Butts, Isaac Masters, Sam Masters, Jose Poindexter, Chad Chisolm, Koty Hix, Brandon Pociask, Zack Dixon, Zack Lee, and Adam Caver.

The head coach was Donny Caver and the assistant coaches were Donnie Bryant, Doug Rhodes, and Ken Caver.
