Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.
This weeks highlights include: Rally on the Cumberland, Clarksville Parks & Recreation Seeks Ideas for Burchwood Park, Chess Club now offered at the Crow Center, Extended Outdoor Pool Season, A Taste of Creativity and Kleeman Community Center hosts Teen Challenge.
“Rally on the Cumberland” & Outdoor Expo
The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with The Friends of the Blueway to host the 1st Annual “Rally on the Cumberland” Canoe and Kayak Race and Outdoor Expo on August 24th.
Come cheer on race participants beginning at 7:00am and check out the Outdoor Expo, featuring outdoor recreation classes, vendors and demonstrations from 10:30am to 3:00pm at the basins near the Marina.
Clarksville Parks & Recreation Seeks Ideas for Burchwood Park
A Neighborhood Input Workshop will be conducted at Burchwood Park on Tuesday, August 27th at 6:30pm regarding the future of Burchwood Park. Burchwood Park is a mini-park located at 2608 Burch Street just off of Fort Campbell Boulevard in North Clarksville.
Park background will be presented, along with discussion about park needs, themes, and other issues affecting the park design and the neighborhood. In addition, a short questionnaire will be distributed to the citizens to obtain priority projects to ultimately develop a Conceptual Master Plan for the Park.
NEW! Chess Club now offered at the Crow Center
The Crow Community Center is excited to host Chess club for youth and adults of all ages. Chess club meets every first and third Thursday of the month from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
Cost is free, but a Center ID card is required to participate. Center ID cards are available for purchase at any of our three community centers as well as the Main Office. Cards are $5.00 for an entire year and are good at all three centers. Families with multiple children are eligible for discounted pricing.
Extended Outdoor Pool Season
Summer break may be over, but two of Clarksville’s outdoor pools will remain open thru September 2nd. Beachaven and New Providence pools will operate on the following schedules:
Beachaven Pool (Daily admission = $5.00)
- Saturday: 10:00am-6:00pm
- Sunday: 1:00pm-6:00pm
- Monday, September 2nd: 10:00am-6:00pm
New Providence Pool (Daily admission = $3.00)
- Monday-Friday: 7:00am–noon
- Saturday: Noon-6:00pm
- Sunday: 1:00pm-6:00pm
- Monday, September 2nd: 7:00am–6:00pm
A Taste of Creativity
Burt-Cobb Community Center is home to a new program, “A Taste of Creativity”. Youth and teens can express their creativity and explore different types of art and cooking projects every Tuesday at the center from 4:15pm to 5:30pm, now through September 10th.

Kleeman Community Center hosts Teen Challenge
Teen Challenge offers an alternative activity for teens to enjoy themselves! This program focuses on how to face issues such as risky behavior, drugs, eating disorders, peer pressure and alcohol. Teen Challenge meets Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, from 2:30pm to 5:00pm and is open to ages 10-15.
Program is FREE with Center ID.
