Nashville Sounds lose close one 5-4 to Oklahoma City RedHawks

 

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK - The Nashville Sounds came up one run short in Tuesday night’s contest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, losing 5-4 to the Oklahoma City RedHawks, who claimed the American Southern Division and a postseason berth as a result.

Down 4-1, the Sounds strung together a two-run two-out rally in the sixth inning courtesy of a triple from Nashville second baseman Eugenio Velez, 2-for-4.

Clarksville Police reports truck drives through two out buildings, then crashes into residence on Forest Hills Drive

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On August 27th, 2013 at 12:14pm; Daniel Greer (33) of New Market, Alabama was leaving the parking lot at 2150 Lowes Drive and drove through two out buildings that were for sale on the lot, destroying both.

An off duty police officer from Kentucky observed and followed Mr. Greer providing 911 with their locations as officers responded to the area. Mr. Greer eventually drove back to the parking lot and was located by Officer Graham.

Rumor of Gunman at Fort Campbell Army Base Unfounded

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On Tuesday, August 27th, 2013, rumors of an active shooter on Fort Campbell circulated rampantly today, but proved unfounded.

Post officials confirmed receiving information about an alleged threat being received at a post facility.

Tennessee Titans place Kevin Walter on PUP list, release Markelle Martin, bringing roster down to 75

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – By today, August 27th, all NFL teams have to trim their rosters down to 75 players by 3:00pm CT. Yesterday, the Tennesse Titans waived 13 players bring the roster down to 77.

Today, the Titans placed veteran receiver Kevin Walter on the physically unable to perform list (PUP). This means Walter will miss the first six weeks of the 2013 season while he recovers from back surgery.

Clarksville Police respond to Possible Drowning

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, August 27th, 2013, at approximately 7:45am, the Clarksville Police Department responded to a possible drowning in the Cumberland River near the Liberty Park Marina.

Montgomery County EMS, the Fire Department, and the Police Department all deployed their boats to began the search. Later, Montgomery County EMS called on cadaver dogs and divers to assist in the search.

No bodies were found in the search. The search was called off just after 2:00pm. There is no further information at this time.

Clarksville’s 8th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ coming September 14th, 2013

 

Clarksville's Frolic on FranklinClarksville, TN –  Downtown Clarksville’s 8th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 14th from 9:00am-3:30pm. The free event will showcase the works of 20 local and regional artists, staged and roaming entertainment, artists’ demonstrations, and baked goods – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.

A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, handmade toys, wood-turned items, quilts, fabric purses and totes, pottery, wreaths, hand-painted signs, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $250.00.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (1-2) conclude their preseason schedule this week, as they travel to face the Minnesota Vikings (0-3). Kickoff at Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (capacity 63,731) is scheduled for 7:00pm CT on Thursday, August 29th.

The game will be televised regionally on the Titans Preseason TV Network, including flagship WKRN-Channel 2 in Nashville. Cory Curtis will handle play-by-play duties, while former Titans quarterback Kerry Collins will provide analysis. Audra Martin will report from the sidelines.

Senior linebacker Craig Salley, senior defensive end Iosua Siliva, senior tackle Gavin Willisson and first-year senior running back Tim Phillips have been elected the team’s four permanent captains by their teammates. The team voted on captains, Friday night.

Fort Campbell, KY – Soldiers from 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) conducted a ceremony in honor of fallen soldiers at Fort Campbell, KY, August 9th, 2013.

Two trees were dedicated, one to 1st Lt. Robert J. Hess, a UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter pilot, and one to Capt. Aaron Blanchard, an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot, with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade.
