Fort Campbell’s Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs will be Climbing, Paddling and Biking in September

Fort Campbell's Morale, Welfare and Recreation - MWRFort Campbell, KY – Join Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for some great activities this month. They’ll start the month off with an Open Climb at their brand new indoor climbing wall on September 4th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Ages 12 and up may participate and the cost is $10.00 which includes all of your equipment.

This is a great way to work on your skills or meet other climbers in the area. All participants must pass a belay certification prior to using the wall. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 2nd.

On September 7th, they’ll be offering a fairly new program, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The cost is $25.00 and ages 10 and up may participate. Located in Ashland City, Sycamore Creek is a tributary of the Cumberland River and is a great location to spend the afternoon Paddle Boarding. You will paddle a 3.5 mile stretch of the river. All equipment and transportation will be provided. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 5th.

Climbing 101 will be held on September 11th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. If you are interested in learning how to rock climb then join for an introduction to the exciting sport of climbing. This clinic will cover equipment, belay instruction, safety precautions, as well as technique. The cost is $15.00 and you must be at least 12 years old to participate. Outdoor Rec will provide all equipment needed. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 9th.

Did you know that Clarksville has some of the best climbing in middle Tennessee? Join Outdoor Rec as they venture to King’s Bluff, a scenic 2 mile crag located just 15 minutes from post. This climbing adventure is on September 14th from 9:00am to 3:00pm and is open to ages 12 and up. All experience levels are welcome. The cost is $35.00 and this includes transportation and equipment. Please bring appropriate clothing, water, snacks and a packed lunch. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 12th.

Here’s another opportunity to try out the new indoor climbing wall. Open Climb will be held again on September 18th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Ages 12 and up may participate and the cost is $10.00 which includes all of your equipment. This is a great way to work on your skills or meet other climbers in the area. Beat the heat with a Cache River Canoe Trip on September 21st from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Ages 10 and up may participate. The Cache River watershed is home to one of Illinois’ most unique natural areas. The Lower Cache River contains an abundance of wildlife including waterfowl, herons, and otters. It is home to Tupelo and Cypress swamps, some over 1,000 years old. You will be canoeing 3 to 6 miles. The cost is $25.00 and covers transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 19th.

Join Outdoor Recreation for a Family Floats canoe trip on September 25th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Located in downtown Clarksville, the Cumberland River is a great location to spend the afternoon canoeing. Ages 6 and over may participate. The cost is $15.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 23rd.

Take a Lock Four Mountain Biking trip with them on September 29th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Ages 14 and up may participate and the cost is $25.00 which includes your transportation, bicycle and helmet. Located in Gallatin, TN, Lock Four is one of the best mountain biking destinations in the Nashville area. With over 8 miles of exciting single track on Old Hickory Lake, Lock Four has something to offer cyclists of all levels of experience. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on September 27th.
