APSU Women’s Cross Country Team has record setting performance

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUChattanooga, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team saw a pair of record-breaking performances at Friday’s Powerade Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga at Moccasin Bend.

Senior Xiamar Richards broke the Lady Govs 11-year old two-mile record, set by former All-American Sheena Gooding. Richards’ 11:23.78 mark placed her second in the meet, breaking Gooding’s old mark by better than 13 seconds.

APSU Lady Govs Volleyball guts out 5-set victory at MT Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUMurfreesboro, TN - With its leading offensive threat sidelined, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team saw senior Calyn Hull come to life with a career-high 25 kills and gutted out a five-set victory (26-24, 25-23, 26-28, 20-25, 15-6) victory against North Dakota in its second match at the MT Invitational, Friday, at Alumni Memorial Gymnasium.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Victim’s description leads to fast Robbery Arrests

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Two men were arrested on robbery charges Thursday, September 5th immediately following the incident after the victim was able to quickly notify authorities and provide detailed description of the men.

Rodney Ledeandre Cole, 33, who gave a Whitland Crossing, Nashville, Tennessee address and Sheron Ray Ladd, 27, who gave a Summit Heights address were charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest and resisting arrest and criminal facilitation of a felony, respectively. Their bond was set at $130,000 and $100,000 respectively.

APSU “Peay Prize Patrol” announces winners

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN - The Peay Prize Patrol recognized its inaugural winners, Friday, with the office of Student Life and Engagement earning the department title while Morgan Gardner, of Governors Terrace North, taking the student title.

Peay Prize Patrol hits campus each Friday to reward one on-campus student and one faculty or staff department for promoting school spirit and pride of Austin Peay.

Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival to enjoy clear skies and calm wind

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – The 26th annual Riverfest Celebration is going on now through Saturday, September 6th in Clarksville. Tonight, there will be clear skies, a calm wind with a low around 61 according to the National Weather Service.

For Saturday, the temperature will be between near 90 with a 5 mph southwest wind in the morning. Saturday night will bring mostly clear skies with a low near 64. A west southwest wind around 5 mph will become calm in the evening hours.

APSU “Peay Read” Book Selection will be discussed at Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library for the First Time

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – Dr. Linda Davis of APSU will lead a discussion of the “Peay Read” selection, the novel Saints at the River by Ron Rash at a special gathering of “Let’s Talk Books” at noon on Monday, September 9th.

The Peay Read is the collaborative reading program at Austin Peay that provides a common reading experience for APSU 1000 students. It is designed to provide a sense of community for these students and to enhance their academic experience.

Riverside Drive Lane Closures for Clarksville’s Riverfest and Park Information

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – There will be lane closures on Riverside Drive for Clarksville’s Riverfest through September 7th. Traffic will be slower moving than usual during this time period, so we recommend drivers plan alternate routes or give themselves plenty of time to travel to their destination.

Free parking will be available at Austin Peay State University’s Dunn Center parking lot. Bus service will be running every 30-45 minutes to shuttle patrons to the Riverfest gates on Saturday only, beginning at 9:30am and continuing until the park closes.

APSU Governors Football to take on Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday in Nashville

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – After failing to play a Southeastern Conference opponent in its first 76 seasons of football existence, Austin Peay will play its second in as many weeks when the Governors travel down the road to Nashville, 6:30pm, Saturday, to play Vanderbilt in Vanderbilt Stadium.
