Huge second quarter powers Vanderbilt Commodores to 38-3 victory over APSU Governors Football

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team would hang in with Southeastern Conference member Vanderbilt University of a quarter, but the Commodores would get their offense rolling in the second 12 minutes of play by scoring 35 second-quarter points on the way to a 38-3 victory over the Governors at Vanderbilt Stadium.

After being held to a field goal in the first quarter, Vanderbilt (1-1) would finally get into the end zone on its fourth drive of the night, going 76 yards on nine plays, with Brian Kimbrow plowing in from six yards out for the TD, with 12:50 left before intermission.

Volunteer Clarksville, Hands on Nashville to Honor 9-11 Heroes with Service

 

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – For the third consecutive year, Volunteer Clarksville, now a program of the United Way of Clarksville, will commemorate the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks by providing more than 800 volunteer opportunities through the annual Serve to Remember event.

Country Artist Phil Vassar to perform at Clarksville’s Riverfest Saturday night

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 7th Country recording artist Phil Vassar will take the stage at Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival at 9:00pm as the headlining performer on the Miller Lite Stage. The concert is free and open to the public.

Phil Vassar career has seen the release of eight albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year, countless hits as a singer and songwriter and a mantle full of awards and the launch of his own Rodeowave Entertainment label continues to expand and evolve.

APSU Athletics hires Janet Wilson as Governors Club and Ticketing Manager

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Janet Wilson, who served as director of operations for Governors basketball last season, has been hired as Governors Club and Ticketing Manager by Austin Peay State University athletics.

Wilson, who received her master’s degree this summer in Health and Human Performance with Sports and Wellness Leadership Specialization, will become the athletic department’s liaison to the Governors Club. In addition, she will assist with overseeing ticket operations for revenue sports and be heavily involved in developing the tickets structure for the new Governors Stadium when it opens in 2014.

Riverfest continues today

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – The first day of the 2013 Riverfest Festival kicked off with absolutely glorious weather. The sky was clear, and the temperatures while warm were not excessive. Festival Attendence started out a little slow but grew steadily throughout the evening culminating in the concerts by Tina Brown, Backroad Brigade and, Skynyrd Lynard on the Miller Lite stage; and Sidewalk Prophets on the First Baptist Church stage.

The festival gets bigger and better every year, and this year is no exception. On Saturday Riverfest will kickoff with the Riverfest Regatta, with the second day of the festival officially opening shortly thereafter and running until 11:00pm. Among the attractions for Saturday are the recycled fashion show various displays by area dance studios, clubs, martial arts schools, and live musical entertainment all day long.

Johnny T will perform on the Gateway Realty Stage at 9:30pm Saturday. Country recording artist Phil Vassar will take the stage at 9:00pm as the headlining performer on the Miller Stage on Saturday.All concerts are free and open to the public.

Isaiah Johnson’s fourth touchdown rallies Rossview High School past Clarksville High 33-28

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Rossview High’s Isaiah Johnson scored four touchdowns, Sept. 6th at Hilda J. Richardson Field, including a 16-yard burst with 6:37 left in the game to give the Hawks their first lead of the night over Clarksville High in a come-from-behind 33-28 District 10-AAA victory.

With the victory, Rossview improves to 3-0 overall in 2013 and 1-0 in district play; while Clarksville High remains winless at 0-3 and 0-1 in District 10-AAA.
