Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – The Rossview High Lady Hawks kept their undefeated streak alive with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-12) win at home against the Henry County Lady Patriots.

The Rossview High gym was filled with sounds of shoes squeaking on hardwood, whistles blowing and the distinct “Pow” of bare hands powerfully slapping volleyballs. Most of those “Pows” came from the Rossview Lady Hawks side of the court as their hitters proved to be too much to handle for the Lady Patriots defenders.

“I thought they played really good.“ Rossview High Lady Hawks head coach Jennifer Garinger said. “For the most part they went out there and wanted to get the job done.”

The job was done impressively in game 1 by the Rossview High Lady Hawks. The Henry County Lady Patriots appeared shell-shocked, unable to handle the Lady Hawks offensive barrage from the service line and the front of the net. The Rossview High Lady hawks opened the game with a 15-2 run, with the Henry County Lady Patriots points coming from the few service errors the Lady Hawks made.

The Lady Patriots failed to make any kills in game one and generated one service ace to make the score 19-6. The Rossview High Lady Hawks produced 9 aces and 6 kills in game one. Rossview High Lady Hawk, Janie White, led the way with 3 kills. Her teammate, Regan Comperry, made two kills, the last one for the 25-7 game 1 win.

The Henry County Lady Patriots recovered from their shock in game 2. Unlike in game 1, they were able to make digs and generate some offense at the net. They also improved at the service line. Henry County Lady Patriot, Kayla Osbron served and ace that brought her team within one of the Lady Hawks, 8-7. Comperry stopped the Lady Patriots momentum with 2 kills in a 6-1 Lady Hawks run.

The Henry County Lady Patriots continued to fight and reduced the Rossview Lady Hawks lead to 4, 15-11. But they still did not have an answer for White at the net. White made 3 kills as the Lady Hawks closed the game with a 10-2 run. She got help from Kamryn Carter who bombarded the Lady Patriots with 5 aces in the final run.

The last game was a repeat of the second. Osbron made a kill that brought the Henry County Lady Patriots within 2 of the Lady Hawks, 8-6. However, back-to-back service aces by Rossview High Lady Hawk, Mica Koontz, ignited a 7-0 run that put the Lady Hawks ahead 15-6.

The Rossview High Lady Hawks would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game. They produced 14 kills by 8 different players in the final game. White added 5 more kills for a total of 11 in the match. Comperry finished the match with 6 total kills.

Garinger liked the way her team played.

“They played hard. They were focused and good passing, good setting, good hitting,” Garinger said.
