Clarksville Parks and Recreation to hold Robert Clark Park and Blueway Ribbon Cutting

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 28th, 2013, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will hold a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the Park and Blueway.

The event will begin at 9:00am at Robert Clark Park, 1449 Tiny Town Road, in Clarksville.

After a few opening words from Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and official ribbon cutting, the public is invited to float the river two and a half miles to Billy Dunlop Park.

“We are so excited for the official opening of the Blueway. The Blueway is a unique place for people in Clarksville who enjoy water sports,” said Mayor Kim McMillan. “This dedicated space for kayakers and people who love to canoe offers a safe place to enter and exit the water. Not many cities have created Blueways and I’m proud that Clarksville is leading the way.”

All members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend. Those interested in floating are asked to bring their own equipment, as there will be only limited equipment available on a first come, first serve basis.

Those planning to float the river following the ribbon cutting ceremony must drop their equipment off at Robert Clark Park prior to parking at Billy Dunlop Park. A shuttle, from Billy Dunlop Park to Robert Clark Park, will be available beginning at 7:30am.

The last shuttle will depart Billy Dunlop Park at 8:45am. Equipment dropped off at Robert Clark Park is the responsibility of its owner.
