Anthony Bradley named APSU Athlete of the Week

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN - Senior Anthony Bradley, of Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Bradley shared the Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week award with Jacksonville State’s Tomasz Anderson after shooting a three-round 215 (72-70-73) to lead the Govs to a third-place finish at the Columbia Regional Preview.

Clarksville Academy Lady Cougars Volleyball shocks District 10-A leader East Robertson in five games

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy’s volleyball team may have won the biggest match in the program’s history – or at least in recent memory, September 24th at Procter Gymnasium – as the Lady Cougars outlasted the District 10-A regular-season champion East Robertson High School, 3-2, by scores of 6-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 22-20.

In fact, Clarksville Academy (6-7, 6-3 District 10-A) handed the Lady Indians their first loss of the season in district play, dropping them to 20-11 overall and 9-1 in District 10-A.

Rossview High School Lady Hawks Offense Soars to 7-0 win against Kenwood High School Lady Knights

 

Rossview High School HawksKenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – After scoring 2 goals in the first 10 minutes, the Rossview High School Lady Hawks added five more in the rain to defeat the Kenwood High School Lady Knights 7-0, Tuesday, September 24th. The potent Lady Hawks offense was too much for the young Lady Knights.

“It’s a growing club. We don’t have a lot of travel players on our team, but we’re growing and we are getting better everyday,“ Kenwood Lady Knights head coach Kevin Ford said. “Maybe in a couple of years we will be a flourishing club, but at the moment we are still learning, we are still getting down the basics.”

APSU Governors Golf takes third at Cardinal Intercollegiate

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUSimpsonville, KY - Austin Peay State University men’s golf team didn’t get the finishing kick it was seeking at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, Tuesday.

As a result, the Governors were forced to settle for third for a second straight week.

Clarksville Police report Attempted Robbery of Legends Bank at Dover Crossing

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, September 24th, 2013, at 2:44pm, the suspect entered the Legends Bank at 140 Dover Crossing and gave the teller a note demanding money.

The teller refused to give the suspect any money and he left in a blue, older model, Honda style car.

Clarksville’s Fronkensteen Theater to hold Redeye 10 Minute Play Festival

 

Fronkensteen Experimental Theatre Group - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – At 8:00pm on Friday, September 27th, 6 directors will meet with six casts to rehearse and stage a 10 minute play. The only problem? They have only 24 hours to produce it.

Show time starts at 8:00pm on Saturday the 28th at the Austin Peay State University Morgan University Center Ballroom and like the saying goes, the show must go on!

Barry Jones, interim chair of the APSU Department of Art, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, September 26th, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. His lecture will be about the “Common Hope” community art project he developed this year.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department reports Trough Springs Road Water Outage

 

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Trough Springs Road from North Woodson Road to Rosson Road to repair a water main leak and to replace a water main valve. The water outage includes Gravel Lane, Durham Road and Memory Lane and area residents may experience low water pressure.

The work is expected to be completed by approximately 3:00pm. The road is open to traffic.
