Clarksville's Rossview High School HawksClarksville Northeast High School EaglesClarksville, TN – In a game between cross-town rivals that lived up to it’s hype, the Rossview Hawks’ Charles Talleyrand hit wide receiver Dominic Stancescu for a 46 yard touchdown pass with just over a minute to play to put Rossview ahead, and the Hawks’ David Ross intercepted a last ditch effort pass from Northeast quarterback Montrell Pardue to seal the win 37-34.

In one of the most entertaining games of the season, with the score tied 21-21 going into the 4th quarter, Rossview used an 11 play 78 yard drive to score their second straight touchdown and pull ahead 28-21.

The Eagles from Northeast answered right back with a long 86 yard touchdown drive aided by a huge face mask penalty after Rossview had forced Northeast into a 4th down and long situation. The Eagles’ star quarterback, Pardue, made a couple shifty moves and raced 30 yards to the end zone. The extra point was partially blocked and Rossview held a slim 28-27 lead with 6:49 left.

On Rossview’s next possession they went three and out and also lost talented running back Isaiah Johnson. He was shaken up on third down and did not return for the rest of the game. He ended the night with 166 yards rushing. After the Hawks punted, Northeast took over, and on the 2nd play from scrimmage Sebastian Bacino coughed up the football and Rossview recovered at their own 36. The fumble was the 2nd one lost by the Eagles on the night after also losing 2 last week.

The Hawks took advantage of the late turnover with Bobby Lenor picking up the slack for the injured Johnson and rushing for 41 yards in a drive that ended with Rossview’s Christian Kubas nailing a 35 yard field goal with 3:16 on the clock to put them up 31-27.

Pardue once again showed why he is one of the most talented players in the area when he quickly led the Eagles down the field. On the 5th play of the drive he faked a handoff to Bacino, drove through the left side of the line and when he got to the corner out ran everyone to the goal line to put the Eagles up 34-31 with 2 minutes to go in the game. The quick 68 yard drive only took up 1:09 off the clock.

The quick drive by Northeast gave Rossview plenty of time to answer and on 2nd down at the Northeast 46 yard line, Stancescu got behind the Eagle secondary and hauled in the game winning touchdown catch.

The Rossview Homecoming crowd got to see a fast moving first half as both teams used their running games to keep things tight. Talleyrand opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a 1 yard td run. Pardue answered for Northeast with a 5 yard td scamper with just seconds left in the quarter.

Johnson bowled across from the one yard line for Rossview with 7:56 on the clock in the 2nd quarter and after both teams traded turnovers Pardue found pay dirt for the Eagles and tied the score at 14 with 55 seconds left in the first half. Pardue would end with 4 td runs on the game.

The Eagles forced Rossview to punt with 32 seconds to go in the half and Kevin Reid slipped through the Hawks line and blocked the punt, picked it up, and scampered 35 yards for an easy score to put Northeast up 21-14 at the half.

For Northeast, Pardue ended the night with over 150 yards rushing and Bacino carried the ball for just over 100 yards. Rossview was led by Johnson who scored twice on the ground and Talleyrand who scored a td on the ground and one in the air. He finished with 170 yards passing.

Rossview improves to 5-1 on the year and Northeast falls to 3-3.
