The two-time defending champ Govs will be battling fellow OVC schools Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, SIU-Edwardsville and Tennessee Tech in the 15-team, two-day, 54-hole event hosted by Cincinnati, to be played on a par-72, 7,100-yard layout.

The tourney will consist of 36 holes. However, Sunday’s rain forced Monday’s first-round start to be delayed until 10:30am (CT). The second round will begin Monday afternoon but will be completed Tuesday along with the third round.

APSU will field a lineup that features the same five players that appeared in the last two tournaments—seniors Anthony Bradley, Marco Iten, Trey Tarpley and sophomores Chris Baker and Austin Kramer. It will be APSU’s fourth tournament in as many weeks. The rest of the Golf Govs will be participating as individuals in the Skyhawk Fall Classic at Paris Landing State Park.

“We have a lot of experience going to UC,” APSU coach Kirk Kayden said. “The starters have played there in the past, and as usual, playing a golf course numerous times is a big advantage.”

In the previous three tournaments the Governors have played well in the tourneys’ first two rounds, sitting in second place in each of the events, but they have been unable to come up with a strong finishing round. With most of the Govs having played Traditions multiple rounds, Kayden is hopeful it will play to their advantage both days.

“I am looking forward to seeing if we can put three solid rounds together in the same event,” Kayden said. “I am confident we can do that at Traditions. I know they guys are motivated to do well and everyone likes the golf course.”
