This year’s parade theme is “A Special Tribute to World War II Veterans—The Greatest Generation,” with the 20th Armored Division Association serving as honorary parade grand marshals.

The group also will have their final association reunion in Clarksville Veterans Day weekend.

This band of combat veterans began their military careers in 1943, and 70 years ago helped build Camp Campbell, now Fort Campbell. The men served in the European Theater of Operations and earned a Presidential Unit Citation for combat operations north of Munich, Germany, in 1945.

The division is recognized as a liberating unit of the Dachau Concentration Camp, and was one of only two armored divisions slated to invade Japan had the war continued.

There is a change in the parade route this year. The parade will begin at 10:00am at the corner of North Eighth Street and College Street, next to the Sundquist Science Building at Austin Peay State University, with the reviewing stand at the Third Street side of the courthouse.

The parade will proceed from College left onto University Avenue, right onto Main Street, left onto North Second Street, left onto Commerce Street, left onto South Third Street, right onto Franklin Street, left onto 8th Street and back to the APSU parking area.
