Fort Campbell, KY – Ki Ryder, a 3 time state qualifier in wrestling, has committed to join the Wheeling Jesuit University (WJU) wrestling program in West Virginia,
Ryder is 170 lbs and comes into his senior season with an 89-30 record. He has wrestled at Fort Campbell High School for 4 years.
“I am happy for Ki and his family,” Fort Campbell wrestling head coach Anthony Shingler said. “I know how much he really wanted to find the right fit for him and I think WJU is, after doing my own research on the school.”Ryder is part of the WJU Cardinals second wrestling recruiting class. WJU added its wrestling Program in December 2012 and hired Sean Doyle as it’s head coach.
Doyle is a Wheeling native and graduate of Cornell University with extensive experience coaching wrestling at high schools in Wheeling.
WJU’s inaugural wrestling season begins November 2nd.
“I think WJU will receive an athlete who does ot quit, will work hard to win in the classroom and on the mat,” Shingler said. “ I am proud of him for making his commitment and I know he is looking forward to getting our season started.”
Ryder plans to sign his Letter of Intent during the NLI Signing Dates which begin November 13.
