National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather and Wind Advisory for Clarksville-Montgomery County

NOAA - National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – A strong cold front will move across Middle Tennessee late this afternoon and evening, bringing with it widespread activity and the possibility of severe storms.

Given the highly-sheared, weakly-unstable environment expected ahead of the front, the primary threats are severe straight-line winds and isolated tornadoes.

Moisture will also be abundant, so heavy rainfall will occur in several locations, and localized flooding is therefore possible.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the following Counties

Stewart County, Montgomery County, Robertson County, Sumner County, Macon County, Clay County, Pickett County, Benton County, Houston County, Humphreys County, Dickson County, Cheatham County, Davidson County, Wilson County, Trousdale County, Smith County, Jackson County, Putnam County, Overton County, Fentress County, Perry County, Hickman County, Lewis County, Williamson County, Maury County, Marshall County, Rutherford County, Cannon County, De Kalb County, White County, Cumberland County, Bedford County, Coffee County, Warren County, Grundy County, Van Buren County, Wayne County, Lawrence County, and Giles County.

Wind Advisory

Also, the strong cold front will sweep out of the Mississippi Valley and cross the mid state tonight. Out ahead of this front, you can expect strong south winds to develop across Middle Tennessee this afternoon and evening, with south winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts to between 35 and 40 mph.

The impact of strong winds will create driving difficulties for high profile vehicles, especially for east and west bound traffic. Some tree limbs and small trees could be blown down. Loose outdoor items such as lawn furniture and trash cans may be blown around.

Wind advisory remains in effect from 1:00pm this afternoon to 10:00pm CDT this evening.
