Deep Water Aerobics- NEW!

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceThe Indoor Aquatic Center (IAC) is excited to offer a new low-impact exercise class as an alternative to the usual land workout that may be too jarring or painful to some.

Deep-water aerobics reduces the heart rate by as much as seventeen beats per minute compared to land exercises. Because of your heart rate, your body may think it isn’t working very hard, when in fact you are getting a strenuous workout.

Classes are open to adults ages 18 and up and are held every Monday, Wednesday & Friday evening from 5:00pm-5:45pm. Cost is $2.00 with a membership, $4.00 without. Register online today at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.

Programs to help at-risk youth continue at three locations

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Dream Chasers Group Mentoring Program continues at the Burt-Cobb Community Center and the Crow Community Center! Dream Chasers is focused on helping at-risk youth, ages 13-17 in a small group atmosphere. Small group leaders, guided by professionals, will mentor youth as they discuss dealing with negative influences that affect teens and will promote making healthy and informed decisions.

The Dream Chasers program meets Wednesdays from 4:30pm until 5:30pm at the Burt-Cobb Community Center and Thursdays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the Crow Community Center. Free pizza and drinks are provided to participants each week courtesy of Domino’s Pizza. This program is free with a community center ID.

Dream Chasers features not only small group discussion and guidance with the Dream Chasers mentors, but also presentations by guest speakers, teen summits conducted by representatives from the L.E.A.P. Organization, workshops conducted by Miller-Motte Technical College and sessions conducted by professionals on preventing substance abuse and other topics.

The Kleeman Community Center hosts L.E.A.P. Mentorship Program every Tuesday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm for youth and teens ages 11-18.
