Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrests Greenbrier Mayor for Theft and Misconduct

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested the Mayor of Greenbrier this afternoon at Greenbrier City Hall after he was indicted last Friday by the Robertson County grand jury.

Billy Eugene Wilson, 56, of Greenbrier, Tennessee was indicted on one count of official misconduct and one count of theft over $60,000 for taking money for personal benefit from the Greenbrier Toys for Tots charity.

Between November 1st, 2005 and October 31st, 2013, Wilson took approximately $60,000 from the charity to pay his personal expenses.

Wilson perpetrated the theft through his position as Mayor, Volunteer Fire Chief and founder of Greenbrier Toys for Tots. The investigation into allegations that Wilson also misused city funds is continuing at this time.

Wilson was booked into the Robertson County Jail on $5,000 bond.
