Roxy Regional Theatre presents Fitzgerald’s Iconic “The Great Gatsby”, November 8th – 23rd

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – This November, the Roxy Regional Theatre brings the Great American Novel from the page to the stage with the regional premiere of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”.

The production, adapted by Simon Levy, is the only stage version authorized by the Fitzgerald estate since 1926. A finalist for the PEN Literary Award in Drama, its world premiere at Minneapolis’ Guthrie Theater commemorated the opening of the Guthrie’s new three-stage center in July 2006.

Michael Spaziani stars as Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire who passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan, played by Michelle Foletta. Fitzgerald’s iconic story unfolds through the reminiscences of young newcomer Nick Carraway, played by Patrick Roberts, who becomes drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger.

In this opulent, carefree lifestyle of the Jazz Age, there lurks a materialistic center, making The Great Gatsby’s cautionary meditation on the ever-elusive nature of the American Dream resonate anew for each generation.

The Great GatsbyUnder the direction of John McDonald, Fitzgerald’s characters come to life through a strong supporting cast featuring Eli Jolley as Tom Buchanan, Jacque Clydesdale as Jordan Baker, Jake Jessup and Ashley Harris as George and Myrtle Wilson, Jay Doolittle, Humberto Figueroa, Leslie Greene and Janet Mund.

“The Great Gatsby” is produced in part by Clif & Melissa Sites of Sites Vision Clinic. Additional funding support has been provided by Dr. Ernest & Joan DeWald, Dr. Thomas & Donna Ely, James & Christa Holleman, Brad & Lisa Martin, and Melissa A. Schaffner. Costumes have been provided courtesy of Couture Crush in downtown Clarksville.
