Northwest High School Lady Vikings defeat Clarksville Academy Lady Cougars 17-13 at CMCSS Jamboree

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – Missed opportunities kept the Clarksville Academy Lady Cougars behind in the last quarter, giving the Northwest Lady Vikings the 17-13 victory.

Missed shots from the field and the free throw line kept the Lady Cougars from completely closing the gap on the Lady Vikings after falling behind 11-4 in the first quarter.

The lead changed three times before the Lady Vikings moved ahead 5-4. Then Lady Viking Keya Ross scored six straight points to close the quarter.

Ross led all scorers with 7 points. Kayla Bradley added 4 points. Madeline Jones, Alexis Walton and Kaitlin McLaughlin all scored 2 points.

Bailey Foote led the Lady Cougars with 5 points. Abbey Hogan added 4 points. Anna Cherry and Hannah Holt both scored 2.

Foote scored 3 points in a 5-0 Lady Cougar run at the beginning of the second quarter. Later Holt made a short jumper to bring the Lady within two points of the Lady Vikings 13-11.

However, repeated missed shots gave the Lady Vikings the opportunity to extend their lead and ultimately win the game.

The Lady Cougars made only 1 of 3 free throws in the second quarter. They went 3 for 8 in total from the stripe.

The Lady Vikings made 3 of 5 from the free throw line.
