Arens has enjoyed a superb prep career at Westerville South High School, located just outside of Columbus.

As a senior, he earned medalist honors seven times and tied for first in three other tournaments, only to lose in scorecard playoffs. Overall, he owned a 71.8 stroke average, but 71.0 in OCC events. In three of his tourney titles, he shot 70s and another he ended with a 69.

However, he saved his for the 12-team Pickerington Central Fall Invitational. He not only won the event but obliterated the field, his 6-under 66 being 10 shots better than his closest competitor.

“Justin will be a very nice addition to our team next year,” said APSU coach Kirk Kayden, who is a Fremont, Ohio native. “He is a very motivated to excel at this level and has the skills to do so.

“The thing I liked most about Justin is his ability to shoot some very low scores in tournament play. I look for him to have an immediate impact on our team.”

Austin Peay captured the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference championship and placed seventh in the NCAA Regional in Tempe, AZ. With three impact seniors—Anthony Bradley, Marco Iten and Trey Tarpley—graduating this spring starting lineup positions will be open for the 2014-15 season.
