Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The latest business to complete requirements for Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified and host a Green Ribbon Cutting is Agero.

City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Montgomery County Director of Administration, Phil Harpel, filling in for Mayor Carolyn Bowers, were there to congratulate the company for their work.

After cutting the ribbon, McMillan asked what type of things Agero had done to become CMC Green Certified.

Mike Daly, Agero’s Facilities Manager who led the effort, explained. “We’ve reduced the amount of paper we use including putting our employee handbooks online; cut back on our energy use by adjusting thermostats when we are out of the office and added occupancy sensors for lights to automatically go out when a room is not in use. We’re working to minimize every aspect of our waste, to include only changing individual trash bags when necessary.”

McMillan asked, “Do you think this has all been worthwhile for your company?”

Daly responded, “Absolutely, it’s going to go to the other Agero sites around the country. The Clarksville Agero facility is the leader in environmental efforts.”

“I’m going to ask you a question the mayors are always interested in, said Harpel. Are some of the associates taking these efforts home with them?” Daly responded, “Some of them have communicated that they’ve taken it home and I’ve received emails from employees telling us how appreciative they were of what we’ve done.”

Cathy Tylutki, Agero’s Human Resources Director said, “We’ve encouraged them to bring in silverware rather than using plastic and we provide new employees mugs and we have filtered water machines and ice so they can avoid using plastic bottles. I think it’s like anything, small changes can make a difference.”

“We are so proud that your company has taken this action. Not only does it help save companies money but we appreciate the steps you are taking to improve our environment. We want Clarksville-Montgomery County to be around for a long time,” said McMillan.

Harpel added “I also wanted to thank you not only for this effort but for all Agero has done to integrate into the community. In such a short time, Agero has become very involved and we are grateful.”

Agero is one of the nation’s leading providers of world-class customer service through innovative roadside assistance and accident management programs.  They opened their doors in Clarksville in October 2012 and have grown to nearly 500 employees.  Agero is located at 2971 International Blvd in the Clarksville Corporate Business Park.
