Clarksville Academy Lady Cougars lose to East Robertson 58-36

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy played one of its best half’s of basketball, December 20th at Procter Court, but saw East Robertson explode for 22 third-quarter points on its way to defeating the Lady Cougars in their District 10-A contest, 58-36.

Trailing by five points, 21-15 at halftime, Clarksville Academy (0-9, 0-4 District 10-A) opened up the second half by getting two free throws from Anna Cherry to cut the deficit to three, but East Robertson would score the next 13 points — including three 3s – to double up the Lady Cougars. 34-17, with 3:56 left in the third quarter.

Cherry would score 14 points for the Lady Cougars.

Bailey Foote would end the Lady Indians (4-4, 3-1 District 10-A) run with two free throws, at the 3:06 mark, but East Robertson would string together another seven points to go up 41-19 before heading into the final quarter up 23 points, 43-20.

Foote would lead Clarksville Academy with 17 points.

The final quarter would see the Lady Indians build its biggest lead of the night, 28 points, at 50-22 with 5:36 left in the game following a basket by Ireland White, but the Lady Cougars would close out the game by outscoring East Robertson 16-8 – including two 3s from Cherry – for the 58-36 final.

In the first half, Clarksville Academy saw the Lady Indians jump out to 9-3 lead over the game’s first four minutes, powered by two East Robertson 3s from Shelby Craig and White.

But the Lady Cougars would answer back with six straight points – including five from Foote – to see Clarksville Academy tie the game at the end of the first eight minutes of play 9-9.

The second quarter would see East Robertson’s Lexi Young score the first bucket to give the Lady Indians an 11-9 lead, 27 seconds into the quarter.

Again, Foote would string together three straight points for the Lady Cougars – on three of four free throws – to give Clarksville Academy its first lead of the game, 12-11, with 5:12 left in the first half.

But the Lady Cougars would go cold from the floor over the next 2:30, which allowed East Robertson to run off five straight points – including a three from Craig – to retake the lead 16-12.

Foote would hit one of two free throws, with 2:46 left, to end the East Robertson run and get the Lady Cougars back to within three points, 16-13, but they would get no closer the rest of the first half – with the Lady Indians closing out the first half by outscoring Clarksville Academy to take a 21-15 lead into halftime.
