This is the first meeting between the Governors and the Roadrunners, who come into this contest, 14-1, having won 10 straight. Dalton State is a first-year four-year NAIA program located in Dalton Georgia.

Guard Ricky Sears leads the way at 16.7 ppg, while fellow wing Preston Earle are at 14.3 while 6-4 forward Demetrice Jacobs is at 13.8 ppg along with a team-best 8.9 rpg.

After eight days off during the Christmas break, The Governors enter the contest amidst a three-game losing streak.

Center Chris Horton, who averaged 17.7 points (tying a career high with 23 against East Tennessee) while shooting 23 of 31 from the floor and 9.3 rpg over three games prior to Christmas, was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for those efforts.

Horton’s 74 percent of shooting has vaulted him from 45th nationally to 10th in field-goal percentage at 62.5 percent.

After suffering through perimeter struggles for much of the non-conference schedule, sophomore guard Cory Arentsen knocked down seven three pointers, including six in the first half, against East Tennessee.

The Governors had a sophomore rush against East Tennessee. APSU’s top three scorers (Chris Horton 23, Cory Arentsen 21, Serigne Mboup 10) are sophomores. In fact, Mboup completed an impressive week off the bench, playing 44 minutes, scoring 18 points while grabbing 16 rebounds

A telling statistic…when the Govs committed 20 turnovers against East Tennessee, it was the fourth time this season they have committed 20 or turnovers and the seventh time they turned it over 18 or more times. The Govs are 0-7 in those games.
