Soldiers And Families Embraced (SAFE) begin holding Wednesday info meetings on Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury

SAFE - Soldiers and Families EmbracedClarksville, TN – SAFE: Soldiers And Families Embraced announces a free, weekly informational group for those living with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) on Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm at New Providence United Methodist Church, 1317 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Childcare is provided.

Starting Wednesday, January 15th, 2014, the educational and discussion group is open to families and friends of military.

The goal of the group is to help understand PTSD and TBI and help participants better learn to live with the effects of war. The group is sponsored by SAFE: Soldiers And Families Embraced, which offers free counseling to Service Members, Veterans and Families.

“This particular group is being led by an expert in the field,” says SAFE Executive Director Rev. Jodi McCullah. “Stephanie Voris has researched these issues but her real expertise has been developed in living with the effects. Her husband is a combat veteran and she has been able to take what she had researched as a sociology student and apply it to her daily life.”

“Each evening’s group is self-contained,” says McCullah. “You do not need to attend all of them to receive a benefit from the information and sharing. Much of the benefit, we expect, will come from sharing of information and experiences. We have not learned as much as we could from the families and individuals living with PTSD and TBI. This is designed to hear from those who know best what the daily struggles involve.”
