LBL Quota Turkey Hunt Applications

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Applications will be available online February 1st, for the first six hunting days of the 2014 Turkey Season at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.

Quota hunts not only provide unique recreational opportunities within the LBL region, they help maintain a healthy turkey population.

Three quota hunts in both Kentucky and Tennessee during the first portion of the season require a prior application.

In Kentucky, quota hunts include a two-day youth hunt for hunters (under age 16 on the Kentucky portion of LBL) March 29th-30th, a two-day hunt April 8th-9th, and a two-day hunt April 12th-13th.

In Tennessee, quota hunts include a two-day youth hunt (for hunters 6-16 years old on the Tennessee portion) April 5th-6th, a two-day hunt April 8th-9th, and a two-day hunt April 12th-13th. No hunting is permitted between these dates.

Hunters can apply online at www.lbl.org/Hunting.html February 1st-28th. Applicants can check the website the end of March to see if they were drawn. The Quota Hunt application fee will remain $5.00 for an online application.

The non-quota hunting season, which does not require a prior application, is a fourteen-day hunt, April 14th-27th in Kentucky, and two seven-day hunts in Tennessee April 14th-20th and April 21st-27th.

The new LBL Recreation Map is available showing hunt area boundaries, and may be purchased at LBL facilities for $3.00 or viewed online for free at http://www.lbl.org/VCMaps.html. The 2014 Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) is also available online, or printed copies may be obtained at the Golden Pond Visitor Center.

Licensed motorized vehicles are only permitted on roads identified on the MVUM and on the LBL Recreation Map. Hunters will want to be sure to refer to the MVUM when scouting and hunting on Land Between The Lakes.

Come Outside and Play at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, managed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. Land Between The Lakes provides outdoor recreation, lake access, and environmental education for the public to enjoy.
