The two-day event gets started noon, Friday, with the pentathlon, and continues with an 11:00am start on Saturday.

The prestigious event brings together a cavalcade of squads from the Midwest. In addition to the host Hoosiers, Austin Peay will face athletes from Purdue, Ohio State, Missouri State and Kent State, among others.

“This is just another step in our journey to the conference meet,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We’ll take a more limited number this week, sit a few for training purposes and give them a chance to work on stuff here.

“We’ve got a good group going who should see some good competition. This will give us a chance to do some things we don’t normally do.”

For the first time in Molnar’s tenure, Austin Peay will have an athlete compete in the pentathlon. Freshman Amia Butler will be one of 12 competing in the five-discipline event.

After earning Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Athlete of the Week for her school-record 200m performance at the Niswonger Invitational, junior Maikea Davis earned a spot in the 200m dash invitational event, one of 12 to land in that field.

The Lady Govs continue indoor season next weekend with a short drive down I-24 for the TSU Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State.
