The Lady Govs look to bounce back from a difficult defeat at the hands of Chattanooga, 7-0, in Monday’s season-opener. No Austin Peay player was able to force a third set and only Vanessa Tavares was able to win four games in any single set.

“Our girls have improved,” said head coach Ross Brown. “We’ve got a little way to go, but I can see a foundation to build on. We’ve got to do better at doubles, and we’ve got some things to do there that can make a difference.”

With the Norse coming to Clarksville, the Lady Govs look to shake off Monday’s defeat against a squad they’ve had success against in the past.

Last season, Austin Peay defeated Northern Kentucky, 7-0, March 9th, 2013, for their season’s second win. Jovana Karac worked an unblemished afternoon for the Lady Govs, defeating Kristina Abramovich 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Senior Andra Cornea, juniors Ornella Di Salvo and Vanessa Tavares and sophomore Mary Therese Kubek also picked up victories that day.

The Lady Govs hit the road for the first time in 2014 when they travel to Middle Tennessee for a 2:00pm, Friday, February 7th match against the Blue Raiders.
