Kenwood Lady Knights Cruise to 58-36 Win Over Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville,TN – Alonja Thomas scored 18 points Monday, January 27th at Kenwood High School in the Lady Knights 58-36 victory over the Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets.

It was the Lady Knights second District 10-AAA win in a row, improving them to 7-3 in the conference. The Lady Yellow Jackets fall to 0-10.

Thomas was one of eight Lady Knights to score in the game and the only one to score double digits. Katie Robolds was the second highest scorer for the Lady Knights with nine points.

Jasmine Johnson, Mikeala Smith, Analiese Osborne and Akia Votaw all scored six points.

Both teams started slow, scoring only 6 points in the first period. Thomas scored four of the Lady Knights six points in the period. She went on to score 12 of her total 18 in the first half of the game.

While Thomas and the rest of the Lady Knights gradually heated up as the game progressed, the Lady Yellow Jackets stalled themselves by committing turnovers.

By halftime the Lady Yellow Jackets committed 13 turnovers, helping the Lady Knights outscore them 22-16.

Thomas scored four points in the third period as part of a 6-0 run that extended the Lady Knights lead into double digits, 31-20.

The Lady Knights maintained the double-digit lead to the end of the third period and sealed the game by outscoring the Lady Yellow Jackets in the fourth 19-11.

Anita Miles led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 13 points. Imari Collier added 10.

The Lady Knights made 6-of-10 free throws and two, 3-pointers in the game. The Lady Yellow Jackets made just 5-of-13 from the stripe and one-3-pointer.
