Clarksville Department of Electricity addresses high electric bills

Clarksville Department of Electricity - CDE - CDE LightbandClarksville, TN – High electric bills continue to be a concern for Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE Lightband) customers.

CDE wants to assure you that they only bill for the amount of electricity that flows through your meter, which they read each and every month, whether physically or electroncially.

CDE Lightband is one of 155 local power companies that purchases power from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and distributes it to customers locally.

Residential electric rates across the TVA area currently average between 9 and 10 cents per kWh. The CDE residential rate is currently 9.312 cents.

Many factors contribute to the amount of your electric bill, with the heating system typically being the most significant. The colder the weather, the longer the operation time of the system, regardless of the indoor thermostat setting.

Lowering your thermostat a few degrees can make a difference.

Should you feel your bill is too high despite the weather factor, please contact CDE at 931.648.8151.

CDE has trained energy specialists to explain your usage individually and determine exactly why your bill is the amount it is.
