Over 400 athletes are scheduled to be in attendance during the two-day event, beginning 4:00pm, Friday and 10:00am, Saturday.

Among the schools bringing full squads will be Lipscomb and Western Kentucky, as well as Ohio Valley Conference rivals Murray State, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.

Ten Lady Govs enter the weekend ranked in the top five in the OVC, led by freshman Amia Butler, who is in the top spot in the indoor pentathlon. The 4x400m relay team ranks second in the conference after a record-breaking performance last weekend at the TSU Invitational. Three Lady Govs rank highly in the OVC in the sprints: junior Erika Adams (third, 60m dash), junior Maikea Davis (third, 200m dash) and sophomore Breigh Jones (third, 400m dash).

A trio of Lady Gov freshmen are among the OVC elite in the jumps: Brianna Kelly (fourth, high jump), Butler (fifth, long jump) and Kaylnn Pitts (third, triple jump). Butler’s 5.96m long jump at last week’s TSU Invitational ranks 55th nationally, one spot above Chantelle Grey’s national finish in the indoor 800m last season.

In their earlier appearance in Carbondale this season, the Lady Govs finished second as a team at the SIU Open, thanks to top-two sweeps in the 60m hurdles (Butler, first; freshman Myiah Johnson, second), 400m dash (sophomore Kymmalett Ross, first; freshman Terri Morris, second) and 800m run (junior Jessica Gray, first; freshman Molly Jordan, second).

The Lady Govs get a well-deserved break next weekend before returning to action Friday, February 21st in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio State Tune-Up.
