Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team rebounded from a disappointing loss at Southern Illinois, Friday, to take a commanding 6-1 win against Lipscomb, Saturday, at the Whitworth Indoor Tennis Center.
The Govs took the doubles point and never looked back, moving to 3-1 on the season. Senior Jasmin Ademovic and junior Aleksas Tverijonas won the No. 1 match against Miguel Cortez and Stuart Tierney, 6-3, while juniors Iago Seffrin and Dimitar Ristovski won the No. 2 slot, 6-4. The Govs won by default at No. 3, with Lipscomb only fielding a five-man squad on Saturday.Ademovic won going away at No. 1, taking down David Salazar 6-3, 6-0. Ristovski (6-4, 5-6, 6-2) and Tverijonas (6-5, 6-2) won easily at No. 2 and No. 3 against Tierney and Rob Mitchell, respectively, while James Mitchell won for the first time since the season opener, dominating Nacor Ibanez in a 6-0, 6-0 rout.
The Govs are scheduled to play two next weekend, hosting Western Kentucky in a Friday morning match at the APSU Tennis Center before traveling to Southern Indiana for a Saturday evening contest.
