West Creek Lady Coyotes Win District 10-AAA Tournament Consolation Game.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville High Lady Wildcats mounted a rally to overcome a 16-point deficit in the fourth period, but the rally fell short. The West Creek Lady Coyotes were able to howl in victory after taking down the Lady Wildcats 54-52 in the District 10-AAA Girls Basketball Tournament Consolation game.

The win ranked the Lady Coyotes as the 10-AAA third seed and the Lady Wildcats as the fourth. They will both advance to Regionals, the Lady Wildcats playing the District 9 top seed and the Lady Coyotes playing the third.

After outscoring the Lady Wildcats 20 to 8 in the third period, the Lady Coyotes went into the fourth with a comfortable 42-26 lead. Late in the period they still had control by double-digits, 49-35.

Then, Nyasia Saines ignited a 5-2 run that cut the Lady Wildcats lead down to 9 points, 51-42.

Turnovers and missed free throws helped the Lady Wildcats continue to rally. The Lady Coyotes committed 11 turnovers in the fourth period and made 8-of-14 free throws.

Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats shot 8-of-13 from the field and 8-of-12 from the free throw line in the fourth period. They outscored the Lady Coyotes 26 to 12.

Clarksville High’s Ta’Tayana Outlaw scored 11 of her total 18 points in the fourth period. Her last points were two free throws with less than 2 minutes remaining that made the score 53-44.

As time wound down, Smith made two more free throws and after a Lady Coyote turnover, Hannah Goins drove to the basket, was fouled while making the basket and converted the 3-point play from the free throw line to cut the lead down to four, 53-49.

Only seconds remained when West Creek’s Ariana Prather made 1-of-2 free throw attempts to extend the lead to 5. The Lady Wildcats responded with a 3-point shot from JK Cummings, but did not have enough time overcome the final 2-point deficit.

Outlaw led all scorers with 18 points. Goins scored 10 and Haley Bearden almost earned a double-double with 8 points and 16 rebounds.

Tyisha Worthy grabbed 8 boards to go with her 16 points. She led the Coyotes in scoring. Madison Kurtz scored 14 and Shayla Smith added 10.
