The weather for the event just could not be better with it being mostly cloudy with a high of around 60 degrees expected today.

Melinda Shepherd, vice president of the Clarksville area Chamber of Commerce was manning the ticket table upfront when I visited the show on Saturday. ā€œIt’s such a beautiful day we cannot complain,ā€ she said.

Shepherd told me about the Home and Garden Show, ā€œThe Home and Garden show is a great opportunity to introduce the community to local vendors who specialize in home and garden industries. It is also a way for the Chamber to promote our live local initiative and let people know of all the products and services that are readily available here in Clarksville-Montgomery County.”

Shepherd continued, “We’ve had a venue change this year and are holding the show at the Wilma Rudolph events center. The traffic and parking situation is better, so it’s easier to get to in! Another advantage of having the event at the Wilma Rudolph center is that the layouts are very nice.” She extended an invitation for everyone to come out and visit with the vendors at the show on Sunday, “I want to let everyone know that the home and Garden show continues on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we hope you will come out and visit with us.”

Shepherd also wanted to thank Furniture Connection for stepping up as the title sponsor. ā€œThey been really great, and you can see they have a great set up here at the home and Garden show. They are giving away a $500 gift certificate. so come on out maybe you can win.ā€

Angela Posey-Jeffries a Scentsy independent consultant was on hand showing off her products. “This is our second go around we did our first one last year at Austin Peay, and Khandra said do you want to come out and do this again, and I said sure; so here we are!ā€ Scentsy is a safe candle with no wick, no smoke, no soot, and no flame. The candle is heated by a lightbulb which releases the fragrance. It’s safe around kids and pets. ā€œA Scentsy candle smells absolutely incredible!ā€Posey-Jeffries told me as she continued. She was ecstatic about exposure that the home and Garden show gave her business, ā€œBusinesses been wonderful we just took all those bars they were in three big tubs; and that’s all we have left,ā€ she said pointing to their display table where a couple dozen packs of Scentsy candles were being displayed. She continued, ā€œSo it’s been really good! It’s been really busy all day long from first thing this morning up until now.ā€ I asked if they would have enough for tomorrow, and she responded, “We hope so, I am calling a few of our team members and saying a we need some more supplies! So yeah!”

I took a moment to speak with Betty Edgerton who was on hand enjoying her first visit to the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce home and Garden show. ā€œEverybody is so pleasant to talk to, and, you learn a lot!ā€ she said. She was most interested in the roofing and gutter companies but had enjoyed visiting with all the vendors. She and her husband Bob normally attend the home and Garden show in Nashville Tennessee but they plan on making the Chamber’s Home and Garden show in Clarksville an annual event for them to attend.

Then I visited the Daymar Institute booth. ā€œIt’s been going great we’ve had a lot of people come by who have wanted information about educational opportunities available at the Daymar Institute,ā€ said Damon Jennings, Community Relations Specialist for Daymar Institute. ā€œIt’s the spring of the year is you fix up your house and how can you fix up your house if you don’t have a good career. If you want to fix up the house you’ve got to fix up yourself and what better way to fix up yourself to go to school and get a new career.ā€

Jennings but was surprised by the number of kids who are interested in the home repair, “As you look around the different home repair companies it’s amazing the kids are almost into it as much as their parents are. It’s good to see that they are taking stock in the important things around the house.ā€

If you would like to visit the show on Sunday, General admission is $5.00 and is free for children 12 and under and to all active duty military with current Military id.

The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Home and Garden Show is coordinated by the Chambers Business Development Committee which is headed up by Chris Goodman.
