The Lady Govs enter the weekend having dispatched Western Kentucky (4-3, February 21st) and Southern Indiana (9-0, February 22nd) for their first two victories during the 2014 spring season.

Senior Andra Cornea and junior Ornella Di Salvo each posted perfect records last week, going 2-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and teaming up for two wins as the top doubles pair.

The Purple Aces have struggled out of the gate with a 1-6 mark, including losses to a pair of Ohio Valley Conference schools in SIU Edwardsville (3-4, February 15th) and Murray State (1-6, February 22nd). Juniors Natasha James and Marketa Trousilova, who were the top No. 1 doubles duo in the Missouri Valley last season, are just 1-2 as a pair this year, with Trousilova, also an all-conference choice in singles, just 3-4 overall.

Lindsey Wilson is 0-2 on the year with losses to Murray State (1-6, January 26th) and Eastern Kentucky (2-5, February 1st) on the ledger. Nevertheless, the Blue Raiders are ranked third in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll, matching their all-time best ranking entering the weekend.

The Lady Govs dropped matches to both the Purple Aces and the Blue Raiders in 2013 action. Evansville took a 5-2 match, February 9th, at the Tri-State Athletic Club, with Di Salvo and junior Vanessa Tavares picking up singles wins. Cornea and Di Salvo gave James and Trousilova all they could handle at No. 1 doubles before falling 8-6.

Austin Peay took the doubles point from Lindsey Wilson in their March 3rd, 2013 battle but could only muster two wins in singles play – including one from Tavares – in a 4-3 loss.

The Lady Govs take a week away from action before starting OVC play at Jacksonville State, March 15th.
