Austin Peay is in seventh with a team score of 21.5, half a point out of fifth-place behind Belmont and SIU Edwardsville, each with 22 points. The Lady Govs remain within striking distance against archrival Murray State, 12 points behind the Racers 33.5 score.

Four Lady Govs will be part of the 10-woman field Saturday in both the 200m and 400m finals. Sophomore Breigh Jones remains a contender in the 400m event, qualifying second with a 57.05 mark. She’ll be joined in the field by sophomore Kymmalett Ross (fifth, personal-best 57.70), freshman Terri Morris (sixth, 57.87) and junior Maikea Davis (seventh, 57.91).

Davis (fourth, 24.68), Jones (fifth, personal-best 24.75) and Ross (eighth, personal-best 25.20) will be joined in the 200m field by junior Erika Adams, who qualified 10th at 25.46, one-hundredth of a second better than her previous personal-best. The Weston, Fla. native also qualified second in the 55m dash with a 7.06 mark, one-hundredth of a second off her school-record pace set on her last visit to Tennessee State, Feb. 1st. She’ll be joined in the 55m field by Ross, who qualified eighth with a 7.19 mark.

Ross – who qualified for three Saturday finals and will run a leg of the 4x400m relay – was not the only Lady Gov to post a busy afternoon, Friday. Freshman Amia Butler earned a qualifying mark in the 55m hurdles (seventh, personal-best 8.08), placed fifth in the long jump with a 5.98m leap and started the day with a third-place showing in the pentathlon (3,600 points) highlighted by runner-up marks in the 55m hurdles (8.12) and long jump (5.82m) to take bronze in the conference’s first-ever indoor pentathlon event.

The Lady Govs took bronze in a wild distance medley relay finish. Morris, freshman Molly Jordan, junior Jessica Gray and senior Xiamar Hudson earned the third-place finish with a 12:22.82 mark and picked up a spot in the finishing order after Eastern Kentucky was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct on the final lap.

Freshman Brianna Kelly narrowly missed a medal in the high jump; her personal-best 1.70m leap equaled the winning height, but Kelly lost via jump-off to finish in a tie for fourth. Freshman Kaylnn Pitts also brought home a point for Austin Peay with an eighth-place, 5.67m long jump mark.

Action continues Saturday at the OVC Indoor Championships, with 11 finals remaining to be decided.
