Freezing Rain, Sleet falling across Clarksville Montgomery County Sunday night, March 2nd, creating hazardous road conditions

Ice and Snow means Take it SlowClarksville, TN – A winter storm is moving cross the Clarksville-Montgomery County area bringing with it rain, freezing rain and sleet. Later tonight, it will change to snow.

Currently rain from earlier in the evening has mixed with sleet causing an icy slush on the roads that is extremely slick. The current temperature is 27°F with the low overnight expected to reach 18°F. As the temperature drops, road conditions will only worsen.

Ice accumulation will be from one half up to one inch. Additionally, up to two inches of snow accumulation is expected.

This will make travel extremely hazardous if not impossible. Vehicles will be frozen in ice, sleet and covered in snow by the morning hours.

Trees and power lines will likely experience significant ice accumulation causing power outages. Northern winds from 15 to 25 MPH, gusting at times up to 35 MPH, will only worsen the ice accumulation problem.

The Winter Weather warning issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 9:00am Monday morning.
