Banks appeared in all 29 games for Austin Peay, averaging 9.6 points and 6.0 rebounds, both marks ranking third among Lady Govs. She shot 52.7 percent (116-for-220) from the floor and pulled down a team-best 63 offensive rebounds (2.2/game).

“Tearra made big strides for us from the time she got here through the entire season,” said Austin Peay head coach Carrie Daniels. “She gave us a presence inside and gave us a dominant player to go to. Opponents had to make a decision on how to guard her and a lot of the time that opened things up for our perimeter players. She has a bright future in our program.”

The 6-3 center from Louisville averaged 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds during OVC play in her role as the Lady Govs sixth man. She also upped her shooting percentage against OVC opponents, knocking down 55.1 percent (65-for-118) of her shots.

Banks posted four double-doubles in her first season at Austin Peay. Two came during non-conference action, the first against Arkansas State, Nov. 15th (14 points, 11 rebounds) and the other at Wichita State, Dec. 21st (17 points, 12 rebounds); the former earned the first of three OVC Freshman of the Week honors for Banks, while the latter netted her both Freshman of the Week and All-Tournament honors at the Wichita State Winter Classic.

Her two double-doubles in conference play came in back-to-back contests against Tennessee Tech, Jan. 25th (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Jacksonville State, Jan. 27 (11 points, 13 rebounds), earning her final Freshman of the Week honor from the OVC.

Banks’ honor makes it back-to-back years the Lady Govs have had an All-Newcomer recipient, joining teammate Tiasha Gray, and Austin Peay’s fifth All-Newcomer honoree overall. Joining Banks on this year’s squad were Belmont’s Taylor Mills, Murray State’s Taylor Porter, SIU Edwardsville’s Micah Jones and UT Martin’s Ashia Jones, who took home OVC Freshman of the Year honors.
