LBL Re-opening delayed following Winter Storm Closure

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Offices and facilities at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area planned to re-open to the public on Thursday, but following road assessments, this will not take place.

“We may not open facilities to the public this week,” stated Area Supervisor, Tina Tilley. “Woodlands Trace has not been treated at all, and roads leading into the facilities, as well as the parking areas, remain ice covered. Our staff is trying to clear access to these areas. As road conditions improve, we will post an update on our website, www.lbl.org, about LBL facilities opening status.”

Turkey Bay OHV Area remains closed due to extremely saturated soil conditions.

Anyone traveling through Land Between The Lakes is advised to use extreme caution as roads are heavily ice and snow covered. Ice covered trees and limbs continue to fall throughout the area, due to extremely saturated soil conditions.

For your safety and the safety of road crews, if travel is not necessary, please stay off LBL roads until temperatures stay above freezing.

Updates and additional information can be found online at www.lbl.org, or by calling 270.924.2000 or 800.525.7077. You may also follow LBL on Twitter @LBLScreechOwl or @LandBtwnLakes for updates.
