Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – One final non-conference tune-up awaits Austin Peay’s baseball team (6-8) as it hosts the Lipscomb Bison (9-8) in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest just three days before it opens Ohio Valley Conference action.

The Govs and Bisons will renew their long-running series, with Tuesday’s affair the 127th meeting between the two teams all-time. Austin Peay leads the series by a slim 64-62-1 thanks to its current 10-game win streak in the series which dates back to the 2008 season.

However, Lipscomb brings a seven-game win streak into Tuesday’s contest, including a four-game sweep of Oakland last weekend.

After a 1-6 start to 2014, the Govs have won 5 of their last 7 during its current 11-game homestand. Austin Peay entered its current homestand with a season-low .193 batting average but are batting .244 entering Tuesday’s contest.

Two-way man Alex Robles (3B/P) ranks fourth among OVC hitters (.417 average) and has a current six-game hit streak. Right fielder Rolando Gautier moved into the leadoff spot, February 25th, against Eastern Michigan and has a hit in each game since (7-game hit streak).

Utility man Ridge Smith enters the midweek outing with 15 RBI, second-most among OVC hitters this season. Shortstop Logan Gray has a six-game hit streak, which he extended with a game-winning grand slam against Milwaukee, Sunday.

Junior transfer Mark Hendrick has been tapped to make his first collegiate start, Tuesday. He has two relief appearances this season and has allowed three runs, though none have been earned. Hendrick last saw action at Baylor, February 22nd allowing one unearned run on three hits and walk in 1.2 innings.
