Everett was also one of four different Wildcats to get at least 3 hits with multiple RBIs in the game. He batted 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, including a two-run homer that cleared the left field wall by at least a yard in the fifth inning.

Mitch Muhlada hit the only other home run in the game. Muhlada’s was a solo shot over the wall in left center in the fourth inning. Muhlada batted 3-for-4 on the night.

The Wildcat’s hot bats had the Indians struggling defensively from the beginning of the game. Indians starting pitcher, Josh Rye, had a rough start.

Rye walked three in the first inning. The Wildcats subbed in runners early and stole bases into scoring position almost at will. It took only three hits for the Wildcats to go up 4-0.

Everett found the gap between center and right field on his first at bat to score the first run. The second run came when Landon Mosteller stole home on a bad throw to first base by the Indians, trying to pick off a runner.

The bases were loaded with just one out when KeAndre Sadler smacked a line drive to centerfield, that bounced of the centerfielders glove. The hit brought in the last two runs of the inning.

In 2 1/3 innings, Rye was tagged for 5 runs from five hits. He made 6 kills and walked five. Rye was one of four Indian pitchers in the game. The other three allowed 11 runs from 10 hits, including two home runs and struck out just two batters.

The Wildcats scored at least 3 runs in four of the five innings. Their biggest inning was the fifth, when they scored five.

Nolen Milton got things started with a single to right field. Next, Everett hit his high-flying homer that brought in Milton. Later, Teal Young brought in two more with a double that hugged the third base line to the corner of the field. Mosteller got the last RBI when he hit a line drive that bounced over the centerfield wall.

The Indians only run came in the third inning. With two men on, Devin Prewitt hit a ground ball and beat the throw to first while his teammate scored.

Up 16-1, Milton took the mound and finished what Everett started. He retired three batters with a pop fly and two strike outs.

The loss was the Indians second straight at home. Next, they will travel to face Northeast Friday, March 14.
The Wildcats will try for their third win Thursday, March 13 on the road against Pope John Paul II High School.
