Clarksville Police charge Timothy Decent with additional Charges, including Aggravated Animal Cruelty

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Friday, March 14th, 2014, after consulting with ADA Brollier, Clarksville Police Officer Lisa Reed was able to begin a search warrant for Timothy Decent’s property, which included a seizure of the animals on the property due to evidence of a crime.

Officer Reed worked non-stop to create a search warrant, which was approved by ADA Brollier on the morning of March 15th, 2014, then presented to Judge Shelton at his home around 9:30am. ADA Brollier also approved an additional warrant for Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

On the morning of March 15th, 2014, with a signed search warrant in hand, as well as an additional arrest warrant for Aggravated Animal Cruelty, Officer Reed and other officers from Dist 3 Patrol Division served the search warrant at the property, securing it so that animal advocates could examine the animals for signs of abuse.

The Agencies represented during the execution of the search warrant were as follows: Clarksville Humane Society, Horse Haven of Tennessee, Volunteer Equine Advocates, Willy’s Happy Endings, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency.

During the course of the search warrant several animals were determined to be malnourished, extremely thin, lacking clean food or water, and in need of Veterinarian care. All live animals were removed from the care of the homeowner, Timothy Decent, and taken to facilities to ensure there continued care and treatment.

While on the property it was necessary to include the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, which resulted in the possibility of several additional charges. Mr. Decent was arrested and booked into Montgomery County Jail with the charge of Aggravated Animal Cruelty, but soon after, he made bond and was released.

Officer Reed investigated this property and the history of Mr. Decent in order to take the necessary steps on her own to not only make sure this crime did not go unpunished, but also took time away from her family on her normally scheduled days off to make sure the animals were given the care needed.
