Wintery Mix expected for Clarksville Montgomery County Sunday night

National Weather ServiceClarksville, TN – The National Weather Service reports another wintry mix for the northwest part of Middle Tennessee Sunday night. A low pressure system will pass south of Middle Tennessee tonight into Sunday, bringing widespread rain and a few thunderstorms to the area.

As the system moves off to the east Sunday night, colder air filtering in from the North will bring temperatures down to near or below freezing across Northwest parts of Middle Tennessee.

These near freezing temperatures are forecast to allow for the rain to changeover to a wintry mix of light sleet and light freezing rain Sunday night, generally along and north of a line from Waverly to Joelton to Lafayette.

Although only light sleet and ice amounts are anticipated over northwest Middle Tennessee, some slick spots may develop on area roadways Sunday night into Monday morning. Caution is urged for those driving in northwest Middle Tennessee during this time.

Any sleet or ice will melt by late Monday morning as temperatures warm well above freezing.

Stay tuned to the latest forecasts  concerning this potential late season winter weather.
