The Lady Govs open the outdoor season with their first visit to Oxford since 2011. Coming off their best finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships under head coach Doug Molnar with a third-place finish in February, confidence is at an all-time high for the Lady Govs.

The track is where Austin Peay stands to make its biggest mark, with its leaders from 2013 returning in 10 of 12 events competed last season, including NCAA Regional 400m qualifier Breigh Jones. Juniors Erika Adams, Maikea Davis and Jessica Gray, sophomore Kymmalett Ross, senior Xiamar Hudson and freshmen Amia Butler, Molly Jordan and Terri Morris also earned points on the track for Austin Peay at the Indoor Championships.

Although the track is stacked for Austin Peay’s lineup, the field athletes also showed their prowess late in the indoor season and a young jumper contingent could lead to sustained success not just during outdoor season but over the next few years. Freshmen Briana Kelly, Chancis Jones, Asheigh Woods, Kaylnn Pitts and Amia Butler each tallied points during indoor season, with Pitts (silver) and Jones (bronze) medaling in the triple jump.

The squad opens outdoor season against a stout field in the Magnolia State. In addition to the host Rebels, Austin Peay will face student-athletes from Arkansas-Little Rock, Memphis and Arkansas State, among others.

The Lady Govs return to action next weekend at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold, a two-day event scheduled to begin Friday, March 28th.
