Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team continues its recent busy stretch with a rare mid-week Ohio Valley Conference outing against defending Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Tennessee Tech, 1:00pm, Thursday, in Cookeville tennessee.
In the meeting between the 2013 regular season and tournament champions, Austin Peay enters as the favorite with a 7-4 mark overall (2-1 OVC), while Tennessee Tech finds itself at just 2-12 on the year (1-3 OVC). This is a make-up match from March 16th.One Gov, junior Aleksas Tverijonas, has already reached the 10-win plateau during spring season; his 10-1 mark all but assures a third straight All-OVC nod for the Lithuanian. Junior Dimitar Ristovski is well on his way to a third straight double-digit win total as well, posting a 7-2 mark.
Since opening the OVC slate with a 7-0 win against Murray State, the Golden Eagles have dropped three straight conference matches. Sophomore transfer Oleksiy Arovin, who joined the squad after leaving Oklahoma State, is 9-2 on the season.
The Govs host Eastern Illinois (1:00pm, March 29th) and SIU Edwardsville (10:00am, March 30th) as the OVC schedule continues this weekend. Sunday’s match against SIU Edwardsville will also serve as Senior Day for the Govs.
