Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend with matches against Eastern Illinois (10:00am, March 29rd) and a Senior Day tilt against SIU Edwardsville (1:00pm, March 30th).

The Lady Govs bring a 5-8 overall mark into the match, with a 2-2 OVC record. Eastern Illinois is 7-2 overall but under .500 in the conference at 1-2, tied with SIU Edwardsville (6-7 overall).

Last weekend was a good one for the Lady Govs, who dispatched Belmont and Tennessee State for their first two Ohio Valley Conference victories. While coming off a 7-0 loss to Murray State, Tuesday, the Lady Govs seem to have found the right combinations at the top of the lineup after switching junior Ornella Di Salvo and senior Andra Cornea at the top spots. Each has won two of three since trading places, with Di Salvo moving to the top spot.

Eastern Illinois returns three players from a squad that defeated Austin Peay twice in 2013 – including once in the OVC Tournament quarterfinals. Ali Foster (8-1), Sephora Boulbahaiem (5-4) and Janelle Prisner (5-4) lead a young squad, with Prisner the only senior.

SIU Edwardsville has just one win on the road since Feb. 15 and stopped a three-game skid by beating Jacksonville State last weekend. The Cougars are paced by Mia Frogner, who brings a 10-2 record into the weekend.

Although Sunday’s match will be the final home outing for Austin Peay in 2014, there’s plenty of tennis to be played in the run up to the OVC Tournament. The Lady Govs hit the road for a four-match trip to conclude the season, beginning next weekend with journeys to Morehead State (1:00pm, April 5th) and Eastern Kentucky (10:00am, April 6th).
