Murfreesboro, TN – Clarksville High School baseball got a combined two-hitter from Teal Young and Mitch Muhlada, April 4th, versus Blackman High School, but its wasn’t enough to keep the Wildcats from suffering their second loss of the season in a 1-0 final.
Young pitched the first four-plus innings for Clarksville High (14-2), giving up one hit and four walks, while striking out two, while Muhlada gave up the other hit in his two innings of work.
But it was two errors by the Wildcats in the bottom of the fifth inning that allowed the game’s only run.
Zane Glass walked to lead off the fifth inning for Blackman (11-8), stole second and advanced to third on Wildcats catcher Gabe Bowling’s throwing error. That brought up Jacob Whitehair who hit a ground ball to Luke Chilcutt at shortstop, but Chilcutt’s throw to first base was low and got away allowing Glass to race home with what turned out to be the game’s only run.
Spencer Woods got the win for Blackman, going six innings and giving up four hits, while striking out four. Austin Reynolds pitched the seventh to pick up the save for the Blaze.
Landon Mosteller had two hits to lead the Wildcats, while Brady Cook and Bowling had the other two base knocks for CHS.
Clarksville High returns to District 10-AAA play on April 7th, when they host Rossview High School at 6:30pm.
