Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University senior pitcher Taylor Mills made the most of her first start in the circle this season, April 6th at Cheryl Holt Field, as she pitched a complete-game 6-3 victory over Tennessee Tech University after the Lady Govs had dropped the opening game of the Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader 7-0.

APSU Governors Baseball loses 16-9 to Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUCookeville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team could not hole Tennessee Tech at bay and dropped the final game of its Ohio Valley Conference series, 16-9, Sunday afternoon at Bush Stadium. Despite the loss, the Govs won the three-game series, 2-1.

LBL Closes Fenton Campground Indefinitely

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes closed Fenton Campground for camping until further notice. The emergency decision came after assessing the damage from the storm that passed through the area Friday morning, April 4th, 2014.

Velez Homers with Three RBIs; Morris Goes 3-For-4 with Two Doubles

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds never recovered from a three-run fifth inning turned in by the Omaha Storm Chasers, who edged the Sounds by a 6-5 margin Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.

With the game tied 2-2, Sounds starting pitcher Hiram Burgos (0-1) allowed three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning, including a pair of RBI doubles to give the Storm Chasers their three-run advantage.

Burgos, the Brewers 2012 minor league pitcher of the year, was charged the loss and finished with five runs, three earned, on seven hits through 4 1/3 innings of work. He had one walk and one strikeout before reliever Alfredo Figaro stepped to the rubber in the fifth.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Covington Street Water Outage

 

Sunday, April 6th, 2014

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Covington Street to repair a water main leak. Area residents may experience low water pressure during the work. The leak repair is anticipated to be finished by approximately 4:00pm when water service will be restored.

The road is open to traffic.

The monthly ISM surveys were mixed. Motor vehicle sales rebounded sharply in March (suggesting that bad weather postponed sales, just as we saw with the government shutdown in October). The March Employment Report was close to expectations.

My dogs were skunked last night. Not a little: like warfare of liquid fire raining upon our home. More good news: one of my dogs is nursing nine one-week-old pups. Now I am picturing nine helpless, blind little puppies withering away from the toxicity of rancid stench upon the bosom of their mother.
